Psychological Testing and Assessment

Sometimes you know that something isn’t working, but you’re not quite sure why. Psychological testing can provide clarity by helping identify patterns in attention, executive functioning, learning, memory, emotional functioning, and behavior.

At Lakes Counseling, we provide comprehensive psychological assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults. Our evaluations are completed by a licensed psychologist and are designed to answer specific questions, provide meaningful recommendations, and help you determine the best next steps.

Adult ADHD & Executive Functioning Evaluations

For adults, we offer two types of evaluations depending on the questions you are hoping to answer.

Adult ADHD Evaluation

Designed for adults who are wondering whether longstanding difficulties with attention, organization, restlessness, impulsivity, or follow-through may be related to ADHD. The evaluation includes a diagnostic interview, standardized assessment measures, screening for other factors that can affect attention, a written report, and a feedback session. This evaluation can be completed entirely through telehealth.

Executive Functioning Evaluation

A more in-depth evaluation for adults who want to better understand difficulties with attention, working memory, planning, organization, mental flexibility, and follow-through. This may be particularly helpful when concerns are newer, the picture is more complex than ADHD alone, or you already have an ADHD diagnosis and would like a clearer understanding of your individual strengths and challenges. This evaluation includes approximately 2.5 hours of in-office testing.

Not Sure Which Evaluation You Need?

You don’t have to decide on your own. Every evaluation begins with an intake appointment, and your psychologist will recommend the assessment that best fits your concerns before testing is scheduled.

Child & Adolescent ADHD and Comprehensive Evaluations

We offer psychological evaluations for children and adolescents ages 8–17, with two options based on your child’s individual needs.

Focused ADHD Evaluation

Designed for families whose primary concerns involve attention, focus, restlessness, impulsivity, organization, or follow-through. The goal is to determine whether your child meets criteria for ADHD and provide recommendations to guide next steps at home, at school, and with treatment.

Comprehensive Psychological Evaluation

When concerns extend beyond attention, a comprehensive evaluation can provide a broader picture. This assessment looks at areas such as cognitive functioning, memory and processing speed, academic skills, executive functioning, emotional functioning, and possible learning difficulties. It may be especially helpful when school performance, anxiety or mood concerns, learning differences, or previous unclear evaluations are part of the picture.

Comprehensive evaluations include an in-office testing session in addition to the intake and feedback appointments.

What to Expect

Our goal is not simply to provide a diagnosis. We want you to leave the evaluation with a better understanding of what is happening and practical recommendations for moving forward.

The process generally includes:

An initial clinical interview

Standardized assessment measures selected for your specific concerns

Professional scoring and interpretation

A written report

A feedback appointment to review your results and recommendations

Depending on the type of evaluation, portions of the assessment may be completed through telehealth or from home, while comprehensive testing includes an in-office appointment.

Fees & Insurance

Psychological testing services are offered on a private-pay basis. Lakes does not bill insurance directly for these evaluations. Upon request, we can provide a detailed receipt or superbill that you may submit to your insurance plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement varies by plan and cannot be guaranteed.
