Hi, I’m Dr. Rachael Hoffman.
I am a licensed psychologist who works with children (ages 3–18), adults, and families. I provide individual and family therapy, and I’m known for being direct, honest, and practical. I specialize in helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges—whether that’s parenting struggles, managing chronic illness, recovering from trauma, or coping with anxiety, depression, adhd or adjustment concerns.
I currently see clients at our Wayzata Office and via Telehealth.
My Journey to Becoming a Psychologist
I earned my B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, then went on to complete my Master’s and Psy.D. at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. My clinical training included an APA-accredited internship in Pediatric Psychology at LaRabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago, where I worked with medically complex children and their families and then a post-doctoral fellowship at the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago where I worked with chronic headache patients of all ages both inpatient and outpatient.
I’ve been in this field for years, and I’ve seen how powerful therapy can be when people are ready to do the work—and when they have someone alongside them who’s willing to be honest, not just agreeable.
In Our Work Together
Our sessions will be shaped around your needs based in a cognitive behavioral model of psychology. We’ll talk openly about your goals—whether that’s managing stress, parenting more effectively, understanding and then decreasing symptoms of various mental health struggles or healing from trauma. I’ll listen deeply to your story, collaborate with you on what matters most, and adjust our approach as your needs evolve. At the same time, I believe in finding moments to laugh and not taking ourselves too seriously all the time. Therapy can be hard—but it doesn’t have to be heavy every minute.
