Helaine Bolter, PsyD, LP
Hi, I’m Dr. Helaine Bolter.
I am a licensed psychologist who works with children as young as 3, as well as teens, adults, and families. I provide individual and family therapy, with an emphasis on helping young children and their families navigate life’s challenges—big and small. I love working with kids in their early, formative years when the right kind of support can truly change a child’s path.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, and adjustment issues. I offer care that is thoughtful, grounded, and responsive to what each person needs at the moment. I currently see clients at our Wayzata office and via Telehealth, where I strive to create a warm and welcoming space for healing.
Why I Do This Work
From the beginning of my career, I’ve been drawn to the emotional lives of children and families. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Drake University, followed by my Doctorate degree from the Minneapolis School of Professional Psychology. My Therapy Practicum at Mayo Clinic and Internship at Minneapolis Children’s Medical Center, offered me experience with diverse populations and challenging clinical cases. During those years, I honed my clinical skills with children and families facing psychological struggles, solidifying my belief in the importance of early, compassionate intervention.
Over the years, my work has taught me how powerful it is to sit with someone in their pain—and how much strength people have to grow, heal, and move forward with the right support.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
People often tell me I bring a calm, steady presence to our sessions. I care deeply about the people I work with and believe that healing happens in relationships—with trust, honesty, and compassion. Whether I’m helping a parent make sense of their child’s behavior or guiding a teenager through anxious thoughts, my goal is always the same: to help people feel seen, heard, and understood.
Our sessions will be centered around what’s important to you. We’ll set goals together, talk about what’s working and what’s not, and adjust as we go. I’ll always bring patience, kindness, and curiosity to the process—and I hope you’ll bring your full self, just as you are.
I Believe:
- Children thrive when they feel safe, connected, and understood
- Even small changes can create meaningful shifts
- Therapy is a space for hope, growth, and healing
- Everyone—at every age—deserves to feel heard and supported
- Working with families is one of the most powerful ways to create lasting change
- You are not alone in this
